Top Nigerian musicians – Wizkid, Davido, Iyanya, D’banj among others will have some of their songs struck off playlists in Nigeria thanks to a decision by Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC).

The corporation banned a list of songs which it deemed ‘broadcast-unfriendly’, and the tops acts have not been spared. Some of the reasons highlighted for banning the musicians’ hits are: obscenity, promotion of violence, drug trafficking, vulgar lyrics and indecent exposure.According to Nigeria’s media reports, the songs are not to be aired on TV nor played over the radio. The Western African country is widely known to support its local talent, and often offers shield for its home acts.
